Aya Jarrous is a medical doctor who graduated with honors from the University of Damascus in Syria.
During her education, she developed a solid foundation in clinical research, contributing to multiple clinically oriented projects despite limited research infrastructure in Syria.
Prior to joining Dartmouth, Aya completed a research fellowship in the Elzoghby Laboratory at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where her focus was immunoengineering. There, she helped develop innovative nanomedicine platforms for cancer immunotherapy.
Aya joined Dr. Kettenbach’s laboratory to help bridge basic research and patient care. She envisions a future where state-of-the-art lab techniques can be used to individualize treatments for each patient, merging scientific innovation with clinical practice. Currently, she is investigating phosphorylation signaling in triple-negative breast cancer tumors using quantitative proteomics and studying the molecular mechanisms of phosphoprotein phosphatase.
Aya aspires to become a physician-scientist in the United States, contributing to the medical literature and making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients, especially those affected by cancer.
